2018: New World Ranking
|
General: The World Ranking points are recalculated at the beginning of a season and after each race. Retired competitors are not listed. Competitors without teams in the current season are listed as 'inactive'. The awarded World Ranking points are based upon the position in the PFRL World Championship. The scored points of the last 2 seasons are added to the points of the current season. In addition, bonus points are awarded for different achievements. The bonus points of the last 4 seasons are considered.
World Ranking and Bonus points: The World Ranking points are awarded according to the top placed team in the PFRL World Championship. During the current season, the points are awarded proportionately to the completed races (Formula: [World Ranking points according to the position] * [Last race] / [Number of races]). At least 10 World Ranking points are awarded at the end of the season for the participation in the PFRL World Championship.
Bonus points are awarded at the end of the season for achievements of the top ranked team in following competitions: - PFRL World Championship and PFRL Constructors World Championship - Official Leagues: Champions Racing League, Professional League and Rookie League - PFRL Cup and Eliminator Competition
In addition, further bonus points are awarded for achievements during the season: - Race wins, pole positions and fastest race lap times - Top 20 Race positions (all teams are taken into consideration)
More details are available in the rules under 6.5 (Trophies)

Awesome indeed... you still need good results and consistency over a longer period of time to make it to the top, but the mistakes of my early years are finally forgiven. It is easy to see that Schumacher will top this ranking for a while after his incredible years 2015 and 2016. But I can also see myself in the pole position for the ranking in 2021, so I will sure keep trying to do my best in the next three seasons. However, it's going to be tough... I have never been World Champion in an even year so far, only in odd ones. Plus this year Chris will have all the luck he didn't have last year, which is quite a lot. Or in other words: I will do my best, but if it won't work, every excuse will be good enough.

Even though the new World Ranking scoring has moved me down, I like the changes a lot. I think it's a better representation of both medium-term consistency and recent success. And I am determined to get back in the top 10, dammit!
