  Lack of public leagues:
There is currently an acute lack of public leagues.

If you want to become a league manager, feel free to start now. It would be the right time.

The forum is primary intended for feedback matters and support requests. Less postings mean less problems with the site. So it can also be seen as a good sign.

I know that the forum isn't state of the art. PFRL doesn't stand for 'Professional Forum in Formula 1', but tries to offer a Premium Fantasy Formula 1 game.

For trash talk the Paddock Club (simple messaging system) is available in most of the leagues. Of course I check all of the team names, league names and messages. If necessary, I have to make some changes.

Public leagues are public with no restrictions. You cannot really control which team owners are join the league. If you want specific participants, you have to run a private league and must invite the people you want to join.

Thanks for the the reply Maverick

To 1) That may help. What I've seen on many sites is that most members don't use forums unless they have a problem. There are about 2000 team owners. Usually only 1% use forums so that is 20 people.

To 2) It's a shame thats not possible "it is technically not possible to join several leagues with one team. "

To 3)
We don't have to less members in public leagues. We have a lack of public leagues. Too many teams without a league membership are available. BTW: Unassigned Teams are automatically assigned to public leagues (after database closing time).

Some more ideas on this one

I didnt know that BTW: Unassigned Teams are automatically assigned to public leagues (after database closing time).
Thats good but .....

What if I want to add a specific public league for members with the same interest though?
For example
a) I live in Asia so an Asian league would be an option for those who live there (nationals or expats)
b) I dont like Ferrari hence my team name - so I would create a league with members who feel the same. This is tricky to name the league. Would these be OK as league names?

I don't like Ferrari
I hate Ferrari (probably a NO - too strong?)
No tifossi
No scarlet
Anti Ferrari (probably a NO - too strong?)
Anti Tifossi (probably a NO - too strong?)

Not a good idea to fill a public league for these leagues as those who love Ferrari will get entered and the Paddock talk could lead to problems !!

I had another idea to create a Race thread for each race where you can comment on Practice, Quali or the Race. Again I have the same concerns about language used so haven't done it.
Example.
"I was disappointed with Force India in Malaysia due to poor pit stops" is OK but another member will post something like

***** ******* Force India ***** ******* ***** (thats what I worry about)

For those who read this the OP about Force India was ***** as written be me, and was not edited by Maverick

@Maverick if you dont like the **** feel free to remove the post or edit it.
and Pseudo-code is BB code - took me a while to work that out - I just tried BB manually and it worked LOL

Thank you very much for your feedback.

To 1.) I'll proof this point. Maybe I adapt the My Teams page with a forum information (latest posting)

To 2.) It is technically not possible to join several leagues with one team.

Hi Maverick,

Sorry I don't know German so some of this may be in the German forum

As I see it there are probably a number of reasons for this (listed as I think of them not in order of importance). I am not a coder or database guy so some of this may prove impossible to change.

1) Members don't use the English forum much - not a coding issue. Possibly add something to show there are new forum posts to try to activate the English (and German ?) forums. The forums is sort of on the homepage if you page down (depending on browser and screen resolution). Could you add a number of (say 5 or 10) last froum posts.

2) To start a new league you need another team if you are in a league already (you may have a good reason for this). Why not let the same team enter a private league and a public league or even a limited number of public leagues.

3) It is not obvious there are public leagues. If you could make it clearer there might be more members in them. This is sort of linked with #2. How about instead of "Join a league" there is a second option to "Join a public league" too.

4) To get people to start public leagues use some kind of announcement system on the site rather than rely on a few reading the forums.

That's all I can think of for now.

EDIT in 9 days nobody replied to your post except me - they don't use the forums
